Ciao, Happy Sunday!

Today it's time to share some positivity! It's time to get out of our negativity bubble and accept that defeat that caused us pain, push it aside, and move on.

If you find it really hard to accept a 'no', to accept a 'stop', it's because it's true, defeats bring real pain. It is indeed true that rejections or losses are activating brain regions also involved in processing physical pain.

But! Looking back at our lives, careers, and social interactions, we will notice that we have actually received more rejections and 'nos' compared to the wins and 'yeses'.

How many times have we wanted to just give up and do nothing anymore? But if we had stopped, we would never have achieved the successes that we are most proud of! Defeats are just part of the journey; they are what make the journey interesting and valuable to be lived and told.

So, if it's true that we can't avoid 'nos', how do we recover quickly? No magic formulas, as always, but below are some suggestions. My favorite is looking for social support.

The best way to achieve something is to ask for it.

Now that we've learned that receiving 'nos' is just part of our lives and perfectly normal, it's time to use our new skill to ask more to obtain more.

Ask your colleagues about their salaries; ask them what they negotiated. Ask your friends about their investments. Ask your acquaintances about their side hustles. Ask your neighbours how much they paid for their renovations, if they negotiated a discount, and how.

This week we celebrate:

C., who bought her first apartment as an investment. She left Italy to be an au pair in her 20s. She is now a manager in a luxury hotel in Switzerland. She will not live in that apartment; she bought it near an industrial area to rent out.

Thank you,
