Ciao, Happy Sunday!
"The best way to keep to a financial budget is to avoid surprises, to anticipate your financial needs before they arise and make sure you have the resources to meet them. The same is true for your body budget"
[Seven and a Half Lessons About the Brain, Lisa Feldman Barrett]
One of the coolest things I learned from this neuroscience book is that our brain's main job is to do body budgeting - manage allostasis - by predicting energy needs before they arise so you can efficiently do life activities.
What's the best way to allow our amazing brain to predict the energy levels we will need throughout the day and week? Establishing a routine. By avoiding constant surprises like unexpected alcohol intake or waking up at different hours every day, we help our brain manage energy more efficiently.
Coffevesting
2025 is for meeting with your friends, acquaintances, or strangers and talking about investments.Ask people for a coffee and ask them what they do for ensuring their financial stability. If you don't know what to ask, here are some ideas about how to start a conversation about managing finances:
Are you familiar with the concept of FIRE?
What do you think about Stocks and ETFs?
How do you convince yourself to save money?
Btw, to decide if I want to spend money on something, I always ask myself whether I truly desire it for myself or if I'm primarily motivated by the desire to impress others. It's shocking how often I detect my brain trying to prioritise appearances over genuine enjoyment.
